Not the Real Inca Empire

Back in time, Hiram Bingham III was the explorer who hit the road to find the Lost City of the Inca. In 1911, he came across Machu Picchu while he was actually looking for Vilcabamba – the real city to which the Inca escaped from the Spanish conquistadors. Bingham was the real reason people refer to Machu Picchu as the Lost City of Inca, for he spent most of his life spreading that claim and arguing that Machu Picchu and Vilcabamba were the same land. However, this theory was only proven wrong long after his death as the real Vilcabamba is believed to be several miles away west of Machu Picchu.

This is story from which people started referring to Machu Picchu as the Lost City of the Inca instead of the real Vilcabamba.

The stones of the buildings were cut precisely and woven together so closely, leaving room for even a bobby pn to get in between them. This building style made the buildings real immune against earthquake as when they happen, the building gracefully bounce and fall back into place.
